Star Wars Director J.J. Abrams Auctions Off Episode IX’s Plot

There might be a lot of Star Wars fans that want to keep their movie experience fresh, but there are also a lot of others who just can’t wait to learn more about what the Star Wars franchise has in store. Star Wars: The Last Jedi hasn’t even released yet. But it seems like there are some who can’t wait for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Trolling spoiler-hungry fans, J.J. Abrams decided to auction off Episode IX’s plot as a joke on HBO’s Night of Too Many Stars.Hosted by Jon Stewart, the show was meant as an event to help people with autism.

A segment of Night of Too Many Stars was focused on Abrams, and during his part of the show, the Star Wars and Star Trek director announced that he was going to auction off the plot of Episode IX and whisper it in one fan’s ear to raise money for donations.

The bidding stepped into a thousand, ending up with a total of $10,000. Walking up on stage, the winner stopped to sign a nondisclosure waiver and then headed to Abrams for his prize but just as the Episode IX director was about to give away the plot, Rob Corddry arrived, announcing that he would also give away some spoilers.

The only thing was that it was for the non-existent movie Hot Tub Machine 3. So the winner had Abrams at one ear, and then Corddry at the other. Things got even worse for the fan when Gilbert Gottfried joined the fray, saying that he’d give ways spoilers for Sharknado 5 – which released back in August.

Poor guy probably wasn’t able to get his Episode IX spoilers with Hot Tub Machine 3 being forced in his ear and Sharknado 5 being told on a microphone. We wonder whether he felt like he spent his $10,000 well.

Star Wars: Episode IX releases on Dec. 20, 2019. Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas Dec. 15, 2017.
