There was a lot of love for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's first teaser. Not only did the video tease the return of Emperor Palpatine, but it also teased an epic showdown between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley).
At the very start of the trailer, viewers get to see Rey alone in the desert, calmly waiting for something or someone to arrive. Then over the horizon, Kylo Ren comes speeding in his TIE fighter, ready to ram Rey to the ground. In an epic move, Rey backflips right over the ship. One of the coolest moments in the trailer, fans couldn't help but gush over the flip.
Daisy Ridley on the other hand, isn't so eager about the flip. The British actress just recently spoke with the USA Today to help promote her upcoming film Ophelia, and during the interview Ridley was asked about the teaser for The Rise of Skywalker.
According to the sequel trilogy star, fans reactions to her flip in the trailer actually bummed her out because it wasn't even her doing the stunt.
"I had learnt a version of it, but there was a risk of breaking ankles so I couldn't do the full thing. But there's a bit in the film where you see me upside down," Ridley revealed, "It's funny because I did 95% of my (stunts), but that's the one thing I didn't fully do. People are like, ‘Oh, that's so cool,' and I'm like, ‘Ugh.'"
Having a stunt double do the hard work isn't that big of a deal, but to hear that Ridley did 95% of her stunts, now that's pretty cool. We can't wait to see her work in Episode IX.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
