Spider-Man Producer Amy Pascal Teases the Formation of the Sinister Six

Before Spider-Man got rebooted by Marvel Studios, Sony was planning on making a Sinister Six film with director Drew Goddard. That film never got off the ground, but now producer Amy Pascal is teasing the formation of the supervillain team soon.

In a featurette from the Spider-Man: Far From Home Blu-Ray (as per ComicBook), Pascal says, "These villains we now have in our universe happen to be characters that are in the Sinister Six… There may be something that happens with that."

We don't know who Sony is planning to include in the Sinister Six, but we already have a lot of candidates in the MCU. Besides Vulture, you also have the Shocker, Scorpion, and the Tinkerer in the universe; and depending on what you believe, it's likely that Mysterio could still be alive as well.

This is also just my guess, but maybe they want to do something with Donald Glover's Prowler. The character did get some exposure with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and with a live-action Miles Morales said to be in the works, it's likely they would tap Glover for a more substantial role.

With Sony adamant enough to push forward with Venom, I can imagine they want to get back on making Sinister Six. After all, that spinoff seems more marketable than something like a Morbius film or Kraven the Hunter. If you ask me, they should introduce the Sinister Six in a Spider-Man film, then have them spinoff in their own Suicide Squad-type movie. They don't have to be in the next film, but we should definitely have Spidey clashing with them at some point.

Spider-Man 3 is set to come out July 16, 2021.
