If Marvel Studios has Kevin Feige, then Sony had Amy Pascal as one of their main producers, specifically for the Spider-Man franchise. After decades of working for the studio, news has it that Pascal is finally leaving Sony so she could work for Universal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amy Pascal has been the chairman of Sony's motion picture group for 20 years until she was asked to step down because of the infamous leak that took place back in 2015. Ever since she's been producing films for Sony, most famously the new Spider-Man movies as well as the spinoffs like Venom and Into the Spider-Verse.
Pascal had this to say about jumping ship to Universal:
"I can't imagine anything more thrilling than making movies for Ron Meyer, Donna Langley and Peter Cramer at Universal… Donna's vision for the company is inspirational on every level, from the brilliant leadership team she's assembled to the studio's diverse selection of movies, to the impressive filmmaking partners who call Universal home."
Universal president Peter Cramer also had this to say about Pascal coming over to their side:
"Amy has a keen eye for projects that have both critical and commercial appeal, which we saw time and time again with the projects that she shepherded at Sony, as well as with the films that she is developing and producing now."
Personally, I don't really know how to react to the news. It was with Pascal that Marvel Studios was able to close their deal and share Spider-Man with Sony, but she's also behind some very questionable spinoff choices like Kraven the Hunter and Venom; I guess Spider-Verse turned out great.
The last Spider-Man project that Pascal has produced is Spider-Man: Far from Home, and the movie is set to come out this July 2.
