The MCU seems to be glossing over Peter Parker's origin story, but the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Far from Home actually has a neat hint at this. A poster has been spotted behind Happy Hogan which is likely for the wrestling match Peter attended to test his powers and knowing this match happened the same day that Uncle Ben was murdered, @ElawnMosk on Twitter has found another slightly tragic detail.
While it's not really clear when zoomed in, you can make out the date on the poster for August 10. Looking at Peter's passport from the past trailers, that's also the day he was born.
So if you piece it together, Peter goes to fight Crusher Hogan on his birthday, he refuses to stop the robbery after he doesn't get paid, the thief ends up killing Uncle Ben, "With great power comes great responsibility" bla bla bla… then Peter becomes Spider-Man.
Of course, the MCU could very well go another direction, but it's a pretty neat nod to what came before. While I don't expect to see the origin in Far from Home, I'm sure Sony is planning on delving into that part of Peter's story in their own way somewhere down the line.
This is just me, but I'm hoping they cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) as Uncle Ben. He looks to be the right age range for Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), and he already played Batman's father (Batman v Superman). What if he was also Spider-Man's first father figure?
Catch Spider-Man: Far from Home when it hits theaters July 2.
