Spider-Man: Far From Home Surprise Cameo Happened With Sam Raimi's Blessing

In case you're one of the few who haven't seen Spider-Man: Far From Home just yet, we're giving the spoiler warning. The following contains some major spoilers so go watch the movie now and come back to read this later.

Spider-Man fans were certainly in for a treat when they stayed behind for the mid-credits scene where Peter Parker learned that Mysterio's associates had sent a video to The Daily Bugle that exposes him as Spider-Man. But that's just the second surprise in the scene. The first one is the fact that J. Jonah Jameson showed up as a reporter who dropped the bombshell. The amazing part is that Jonah is still played by J.K. Simmons.

Simmons played Peter's demanding boss in the Sam Raimi trilogy and he actually made sure the director was OK with Marvel asking him to reprise the role. Raimi recently revealed to Entertainment Tonight that Simmons had contacted him to ask.

"J.K. called me and said, 'Hey, they're talking about reprising my role.' I said, 'With all my greatest blessings,' 'cause I love Spider-Man and I love J.K. and I'd love to see more of him," Raimi admitted.

Although Raimi seems OK with Marvel bringing Simmons back as Jonah, he also still wishes his planned Spider-Man 4 film has not been cancelled. The Crawl producer admitted that seeing a new Spider-Man movie reminded him of the failed project.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is still screening in theaters worldwide.
