Spider-Man: Far From Home is the start of Marvel Studios' phase four, which will begin a new age for the company now that we will be seeing some major changes after Avengers: Endgame. The movie is also going to be introducing an interesting dynamic between Peter Parker and Nick Fury, which will make fans of Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man very happy.
Fans might not be too familiar with this relationship but Far From Home director Jon Watts has given a fairly decent explanation about how these two will be like in the movie. While Tony Stark was more of a supportive mentor to Peter, Fury is being described as a "mean new step-dad," which sounds like a lot of fun.
Here is Watts' full explanation from USA Today:
This definitely sounds a lot like their relationship from Ultimate Spider-Man. In that universe, Fury wanted Peter to be a better superhero and wanted him to get over all of his angst. In due time, Fury would learn to let Peter be and even respect him as a superhero who doesn't need to be monitored or groomed. Seems like Far From Home could be the beginning of this relationship in live-action.
Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out on July 2.
