Since we last saw him, Spider-Man has been left alone and forgotten by the world. Now, Tom Holland is teasing a new chapter for the webslinger.

In a recent interview, Holland revealed that the next film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will return to the "old-school" filmmaking style of Homecoming. Here's what he said.

What Can Fans Expect from Spider-Man: Brand New Day's 'Old School' Filmmaking?

In a recent interview with Flip Your Wig (via IGN), the Cherry and Chaos Walking star teased just how different Brand New Day's going to be compared to the restrictions during No Way Home.

"I'm obviously over the moon and so excited," Holland expressed his excitement upon returning to the franchise, holding the experience akin to 'hanging with an old pal.' Essentially, it's good to see Spidey back in action.

As for the 'old school filmmaking' factor, Holland believes the post-COVID timeline helped in bringing back the classic Homecoming experience: "We shot the entire film on stages [and] lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations."

According to Holland, the beginning of their filming is set in Glasgow: "We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together."

In Holland's own words, "It's gonna feel like making [Homecoming] again."

Considering that Homecoming introduced the new friendly neighbor Spider-Man in the MCU, Brand New Day is, as he called it, a "fresh start" as he navigates the world that doesn't even remember his existence or his heroic deeds.

What Spidey/Peter Parker will Brand New Day Present to Fans?

No Way Home left things on a cliffhanger, with Peter suffering the most. He lost his mentor, his only family, his only friend, Ned, and his first girlfriend, MJ. With his old identity wiped from the world, what could this hold for him in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

"So, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that," Unfortunately, as much as he wants to tell more details, he can't.

"That's all I've been allowed to say, and I'm well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don't you worry: I'm not gonna do that today."

While plot details have been kept under wraps for Brand New Day, Jon Bernthal's Punisher will be appearing in the movie, with Sadie Sink marking her MCU debut as an unknown character (fans' money is on Mayday Parker, aka the daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Parker).

For now, fans can wait for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to open in theaters on July 31, 2026.
