A new rumor suggested that the plot of the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4 will likely lean on the cosmic elements.
Following the massive success of No Way Home, Marvel Studios and Sony have been working on the fourth solo movie that would continue the adventure of Tom Holland's web-slinger in the MCU.
The project gained momentum recently when it was reported that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton had been tapped to helm the movie. Production is slated to begin early next year.
Spider-Man 4 Rumor Suggests Movie's Plot Will Likely Shift to Cosmic Story
A recent scoop from a well-known insider shared the details that they've heard surrounding the plans for Spider-Man 4.
They claimed that the film's plot will likely lean heavily on cosmic/multiversal elements rather than a street-level story.
In addition, they also heard that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will likely return to reprise their respective versions of Spider-Man.
If this ends up being true, it would mean that Garfield's version of Spider-Man will be able to finally fight an alien/cosmic character. In case you forgot, he joked during No Way Home that he would love to face-off against an alien at some point.
So far, Marvel Studios and Sony have not confirmed the claims made in the report so take this with a grain of salt.
While the plans for the story could still change since pre-production is still ongoing, it is an intriguing idea for the film although it would still disappoint some fans as they wanted Tom Holland's Spider-Man to go back to street-level storytelling again.
For now, let's wait and see whether this is indeed the idea that Marvel Studios and Sony will end up going with as fans have been anxious to hear official updates on the project.
