The rumored title for Spider-Man 4 suggests that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures might abandon the street-level story for Tom Holland's next MCU adventure.
Following the massive success of No Way Home, Marvel Studios and Sony have been developing the next installment of Holland's adventure as the web-slinger in the MCU.
The project gained traction recently as Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton was tapped to helm the movie. It remains to be seen whether it will officially be a street-level story or have multiversal elements.
Spider-Man 4's Rumored Title Revealed
According to a scoop from insider @Cryptic4KQual, they heard from sources that Spider-Man 4 will likely be titled Spider-Man: King in Black.
This suggests that Knull might indeed be the main villain of the film, which is what's been heavily rumored for the past few weeks.
So far, Marvel Studios and Sony have not confirmed the claims in the scoop so take this with a grain of salt.
If it ends up being true, it indicates that the film will likely abandon the street-level storytelling and lean heavily into the multiversal elements considering the type of villain Knull is.
We also know that the character is set to make his debut in Venom: The Last Dance and it's been rumored that his appearance will not be a one-off and he is set to appear in other projects.
This rumor might end up disappointing some fans as they would love for Holland's next MCU adventure to be more street-level again and face off Earth-based villains such as Kingpin.
Since the details are still uncertain, fans should look forward to official news and updates regarding the film in the coming months and it would be curious to see whether they'll eventually confirm that Knull will be the main villain. Production is slated to begin early next year.
