While Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man 4 isn't releasing anytime soon, a new report details what fans of the web-slinger should expect in the upcoming MCU flick. As Spider-Man 4 sets its filming date to next year, the sequel may be replacing a key character in Peter Parker's life.
Spider-Man 4 Might Be Replacing Zendaya's MJ in the Long Run
Even though Tom Holland's Peter Parker saved the Multiverse by the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, he sacrificed his life and lost his friends and loved ones in the process.
No one knows who he is and his connection to Spider-Man's heroic works, which makes the perfect set-up for re-establishing who he is in the MCU canon. One of these happens to be finding a new love interest for Peter Parker.
According to reputable scooper My Time To Shine Hello on X (formerly Twitter), as Spider-Man 4 begins filming in the UK by the end of May 2025, they'll be "casting a new female lead" and while no other details were shared, it's safe to assume that someone like Gwen Stacy or even Felicia Hardy could enter the picture, as previously rumored.
However, another thing that fans should keep in mind is the potential of this one other thing: "as well as a new male lead to serve as a foil for Peter." What could this mean?
Plot details may still be under wraps, but we could be looking into a new villain that Spider-Man will face up against.
Considering that the Spider-Man franchise is heavily involved with the inner workings of the Multiverse, there's a chance we're looking at yet another universe-scope enemy the web-slinging hero should defeat just in time to rejoin the Avengers in the future flicks.
Do remind yourselves that nothing has been confirmed yet by Marvel or Disney, so it is crucial to take this with a grain of salt for now.
It is pleasing to hear though that the fourth Spider-Man flick is pushing through in the comic book franchise, and definitely even more perfect that Tom Holland will be reprising his titular role.
As he called it, "Until we've cracked [the story for future Avengers film], we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing."
