Agatha All Along's Shocking Ep 3 Death Addressed by Showrunner
Mrs. Hart has always been a fan-favorite since her MCU debut in WandaVision. Apart from being played by That '70s Show alum Debra Jo Rupp, Mrs. Hart is the sweet old lady next door who wants nothing but to welcome the people of Westview into their neighborhood warmly.
Agatha All Along episode 3 titled Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials unfortunately leads to the end of Mrs. Hart's run.
"It was a big question - do characters die in the show? We went around and around, it was a decision that we made quite late," Schaeffer explains it took them a while to decide on it.
Despite already having the cast and scripts at the ready, they were lucky they weren't filming episodes yet, "But it was dicey. What does it do to the audience? Do we do this?"
Ultimately, here's how the showrunner unveiled why it was vital to take risks with Mrs. Hart.
"The answer was yes because we wanted the show to have teeth," Schaeffer continues, "This is a show about a character who is classified as a villain."
Considering that Agatha All Along sings a different tune from the likes of WandaVision's sitcom atmosphere, it was essential to portray just how cruel Agatha Harkness could be, especially when it comes to non-magic folk.
Schaeffer also shared that death has close relations with witchcraft, "There is something about witchcraft that if you remove death, those bigger stakes like that, it becomes soft, toothless, and inauthentic. So yeah, we kill someone."
