Spider-Gwen Pursues Spider-Man 2099 In New Across The Spider-Verse Image

It will still be a long wait for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse but we just got an awesome update on the highly anticipated animated sequel. A new image from the upcoming movie features Spider-Man 2099 on the run with Gwen Stacy in hot pursuit.

The new image from Spider-Man: Across the Universe was shared by the film's official Twitter account. The photo shows Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 running over what appears to be a bridge, possibly in pursuit of Miles Morales. However, he is far from alone. If you look closely at the left side of the picture, Gwen Stacy can be seen trailing O'Hara as well.

It's an interesting image from Across the Spider-Verse that confirms that Miguel O'Hara isn't a fan of other Spider-People. However, it also seems to confirm that they aren't fond of him as well. Still, fans are hoping that Spider-Man 2099 will eventually become an important ally to Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy.

Spider-Man 2099 first appeared in the end-credits scene of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The character only appeared briefly but fans were thrilled to know that he is played by Oscar Isaac. Luckily, Miguel O'Hara is set to play a major role in the sequel and we can't wait to see him in action this June.

The official synopsis for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse reads as follows:

"After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most."

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
