After much anticipation, Kyoto Animation’s Sound! Euphonium Season 3 finally confirmed its April release date. While the show’s premiere was announced for spring this year, there’s finally a more specific date to look forward to.
The show’s premiere was revealed alongside a new character video for the protagonist Kumiko Oumae.
Along with the general release, fans in Japan can also look forward to special theatrical screenings, which will show the anime’s first two episodes. These screenings are set to happen in Japan for two days only next month.
Sound! Euphonium Is Getting Special Theatrical Screenings in March
Sound! Euphonium is a Japanese novel series that was adapted into an anime by Kyoto Animation, the studio behind popular titles like Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice.
The anime’s first season aired in Spring 2015, and it was soon followed up by a second season in the Fall 2016 season.
After the second season, the series got a compilation film release in 2016 and 2017 for the first and second seasons, respectively. There’s also the Liz and the Blue Bird spinoff film.
Finally, the anime is set to return with Season 3. This was revealed back in August 2023 alongside the Ensemble Contest OVA’s release.
As with the OVA, the third season will get screenings in Japan. The show’s first two episodes will be screened in Tokyo at Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema on March 16, followed by Kyoto at MOVIX Kyoto on March 17.
Chances are that there will only be one or two screenings each day given that this is still a fairly niche series compared to something like Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, which is getting wider cinema previews soon.

Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Release Date Revealed
The proper third season was confirmed in August with a trailer. At the time, it was revealed that the show would introduce a new character, Mayu Kuroe, a euphonium player who will play a big role in the season.
Now, a new character video was revealed, but it’s for the main character, Kumiko Oumae. This video also came with the reveal that Sound! Euphonium Season 3 will be released on April 7, 2024.
In Japan, the anime will air every Sunday at 5:00 PM JST on NHK Educational. The season is also confirmed to have 13 episodes, similar to the previous seasons.
There’s no word yet on where it will be streamed outside of Japan.
