Sony Pictures boss Tom Rothman recently revealed that they have no plans to develop more spinoff movies featuring the Spider-Man villains.

In a recent interview with Variety discussing the box office success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Rothman was asked whether the studio has plans to do more movies featuring the Spider-Man villains.
He admitted that the audience's reception to the movies was not enthusiastic, unlike the Spider-Man installments.
"Ultimately, the audience wasn’t satisfied enough with them. Whether that’s a fair assessment of those movies, who knows. That’s howling into the wind. The audience is the boss, and they didn’t respond. It’s as simple as that," the Sony Pictures boss said.
Furthermore, Rothman confirmed that they are not developing more Spider-Man villain spinoff projects at the moment, and they are focused on the Tom Holland movies and the Spider-Verse animated movies.
"Right now, we don’t know. We never looked at it as the 'Sony-Marvel Universe.' We looked at if there were worthwhile movies to make with other characters. At the moment, there are none in active development," he added.
For now, Sony is concentrating on setting up the future of the Tom Holland Spider-Man in the MCU following the massive box office success of Brand New Day.
