- Quick Answer: Sons of Anarchy stars are reuniting for FX's Legends, a meta series where the original cast plays themselves confronting real danger at a fan convention.
The cast of Sons of Anarchy is set to reunite for the new meta limited series Legends, in which they will play themselves.
The hit motorcycle crime drama remains one of the most iconic series to date, thanks to its compelling storytelling and the memorable performances of its cast, led by Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal. Fans have been wondering whether there are plans to do a revival or another spinoff following Mayans M.C.
Now, the franchise is back with another series, but with a wild twist.
What Is Legends About?

Variety reported that FX is officially moving forward with the new meta limited series Legends, which will reunite the Sons of Anarchy cast. Charlie Hunnam serves as the star and co-creator.
According to the logline: "When the cast of Sons of Anarchy reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show."
The confirmed cast includes Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi.
It remains unknown whether Ryan Hurst, who is currently recovering from his injuries in the God of War series and was let go as the star, will participate in the project.
As mentioned, Hunnam serves as the co-creator of the series, alongside Jonathan Groff (known for his work in Black-ish). It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob Mac is also involved as one of the executive producers.
This is a wild twist in the "revival" of the Sons of Anarchy franchise since they are taking the Galaxy Quest approach in reuniting the cast for the project, without revisiting the story of the series itself or doing an extension of the fictional universe.
Is Sons of Anarchy Creator Kurt Sutter Involved in Legends?

One of the questions fans have is whether Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has an involvement in the development of Legends.
In his recent post on Instagram, Sutter confirmed that he has no direct involvement in the project, but he already gave his blessing to Hunnam, as he gave him a heads-up.
"I’m not involved with Legends at all, nor should I be. It has nothing to do with the characters I created or the mythology. It is really about the show and the legacy of the show, and quite frankly, there are thousands of people who are responsible for that legacy," he said in the video.
"Just want folks to know that Charlie came to me early on, when he was in the process of pitching this to the network, to ask for my blessing, knowing that the IP would probably not be able to be invoked for various reasons of legalese stuff, and I gave Charlie my full blessing. I wish nothing but the best for him in this project. My wife is in the project."
Sutter also teased the script, "It has my full-blown ‘Watch this motherf***er’ because I’ve taken a peek at the script that was perhaps just lying on my wife’s knitting table, and it’s so well done, and I think you’ll dig it. I love Charlie to death, and I think you will have mad love for this project as well."
