It looks like we're finally getting some awesome updates on Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Following Colleen O'Shaughnessey's announcement that she will voice Tails in the sequel, the first poster for the highly anticipated movie has just been dropped. In addition to that, the first trailer for the film will be released tomorrow!
The first poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was shared by the movie's official Twitter account. Not surprisingly, the poster puts the focus on the titular blue hedgehog with Dr Ivo Robotnik getting ready to attack. However, it also introduces Sonic's new friend Tails geared up to help. Check it out below.
It's an awesome poster on its own but it's also missing one character that fans have been hoping to see. People have pointed out that Knuckles is notably absent from the poster. Luckily, the announcement comes with more good news.
The tweet confirms that the first Sonic the Hedgehog 2 trailer will be dropped during The Game Awards on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 8:00 PM ET. Hopefully, this means we'll finally get to see Knuckles in action and hear Idris Elba's version of the red echidna. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is certainly on a roll right now. The poster was released soon after Colleen O'Shaughnessey announced that she will return as Tails in the sequel. This was welcome news for fans considering that O'Shaughnessey has provided the voice of the fox in the Sega video games and in the post-credits scene of the first film.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will bring back Ben Schwartz as the titular hero, Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Sonic's friends Tom and Maddie Wachowski. The sequel is currently scheduled for release on April 8, 2022.
