Sean Gunn Reveals How Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Dealt With Major Death Rumors

If you were paying attention to rumors about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, you probably believed that one or several major characters will be killed off. However, Sean Gunn explained how the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel decided to deal with all the death speculations.

There were several speculations about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before its release but the most popular ones included the possible deaths of Rocket or Drax. Luckily, none of the major characters were killed in the MCU sequel but it still concluded with the Guardians disbanding.

So was there any truth behind all those rumored deaths? Sean Gunn recently spoke to Comicbook.com and he confirmed that his brother, director James Gunn, considered the possibilities.

"We certainly didn't go out of our way to dissuade any rumors about deaths because you don't want people knowing where stuff is going," Gunn said.

"I know James toyed with it at various times, so it was like maybe so-and-so would die. And then just, in the course of figuring out the story, it just didn't make sense for anyone," he added.

Sean Gunn continued that although nobody died, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 managed to give the trilogy a proper conclusion.

"I like where everyone lands, and it's true, it's a finality, of sorts, for a lot of the characters without death, which is pretty interesting to me too," Gunn said.

We're certainly glad that James Gunn decided against killing anyone from the gang in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it was great to see that the film ended on a hopeful note. With that in mind, it was the perfect conclusion for the trilogy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brings back Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, Maria Bakalova, and Sylvester Stallone.

It is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
