Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista recently reflected on leaving the role of Drax in the MCU.

The wrestler-turned-actor played the fan-favorite role of Drax the Destroyer for the last time in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He was adamant before the film's release that it would be his final rodeo as the character.

A lot of fans are still hoping that the original Guardians of the Galaxy cast would make more appearances in the future, but that looks to be getting more unlikely now as most of the actors have moved on from their MCU tenure.

In a recent interview, Bautista opened up about his tenure as Drax in the MCU and admitted that he does not miss the character at all as he looks back on the making of the films.

However, he did miss the Guardians of the Galaxy family as he never felt that he had any formal closure about that part of his career.

"I wouldn’t say I miss [Drax]. What I do miss is the family environment. It’s hard knowing that we will never be on set together again. Me, Chris, Zoe, Pom, Karen, Sean Gunn, James Gunn — it’s never going to happen again. It’s hard to live with that," the former MCU star said.

"Our last night filming was here in Hollywood, and we wrapped at 3 or 4 in the morning. And then I literally had to run to the hotel, get my bags, jump on a jet and fly to Philadelphia to start Knock at the Cabin two days later. I was then on another film, and I didn’t do press or make the premiere for Guardians 3."

Bautista continued, "So there’s just a huge part of me that feels like there was no closure. I never really got to say goodbye to that character and that cast, and there’s always going to be some sadness involved when I start thinking about that."

While Bautista does not miss playing the character, the experience of making the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy was still an important part for him and he has fond memories with everyone involved.

It is also very clear that he is not interested in reprising the role anytime soon, and he would rather focus on other projects where he can shine more as an artist and play more roles.
