Scarlett Johansson recently weighed in on the viral Saturday Night Live joke about her during the year-end Christmas episode last December.

As fans of the series know, during the final Weekend Update of the year, Colin Jost and Michael Che would exchange jokes that they wrote for each other that neither had read until they were live on air. The jokes are usually more vulgar and potentially controversial.

Scarlett Johansson Reacts to Colin Jost's 'Vulgar' Saturday Night Live Joke

In a recent interview, Johansson opened up about her reaction when she heard her husband Colin Jost read a joke about her during the Weekend Update segment in Saturday Night Live's Christmas episode last December.

To recap, here's the joke that Jost said as written by Michael Che: "Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from their menu. But I ain’t tripping. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid."

The joke was met with gasps by the studio audience. Then, the camera cut to Johansson's live reaction where she looked very shocked on the punchline.

"It was so vulgar. I just can't believe that they went there. I was like—it was so gross. It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross," Johansson said.

The actress noted that she was given a heads-up before the segment that Che wrote a "vagina joke" about her.

"My experience of it was so funny. I was like, 'I mean, it's a vagina joke, how bad could it be?' And then as soon as the Costco photo came up, I was like 'No! No, Michael!'" she said.

Scarlett Johansson's Next Project

After participating in the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live, Johansson will be seen next in the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth.

She will be playing the role of skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who was contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material.

While she is expected to be part of the film's global marketing campaign, don't expect her to join social media to help in the promotions.

"I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they're like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth?’ [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media," Johansson said in the same interview.

"Is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could. The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient. So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine."
