Sazz may have been murdered in cold blood, but she left a cryptic message in Only Murders in the Building. The trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are left to decipher it. Thankfully, season 4 episode 2 shows us exactly that.

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Only Murders in the Building, so proceed with caution.

Sazz Technically Didn't Disappear Without Saying Anything

Sazz (played by Jane Lynch) was murdered in the finale episode of Only Murders in the Building season 3, and the mystery behind her death continued in the premiere of season 4.

This leaves Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) with a few clues to examine in Charles's apartment. One of these clues includes the bloodstains she left on the floor.

While the stain had been wiped off, the second episode titled Gates of Heaven, finally leads them back on track to figuring out who may have killed Sazz.

Well, according to episode 2, the trio surmised that the killer may have come from the West Tower, the building across the Arconia, and shot Sazz through Charles's window.

The bloodstain, although it had seemingly been wiped clean from the floor, was recovered when Oliver and Mabel discovered Sazz's writing through the infrared light. As it turned out, Sazz had written "tap in", which she used to say often when she was still alive.

The "tap in" here relates to how Sazz and Charles would "switch" and take turns in who gets to mimic Charles as a stand-in. However, the message also indicates that whoever tried to kill Sazz is actually targeting Charles.

Although the reason behind their target on Charles remains to be seen, the clue also practically implies that Sazz unintentionally saved his life, despite her body going missing from the series.

For now, at least, the trio already have their main lead: a masked killer who may have lived in the West Tower.
