According to a new report from Deadline, Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost for the upcoming X-Men movie. While Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed the news, this is the first time one of the major trades reports a casting for the movie.
The report explains that Kevin Feige and Jake Schreier met with several candidates, and the finalists tested for the role after July 4th. Weaving's audition turned out the best among the pack, and the producer and director decided to cast her at the start of this week.
Weaving's resume includes the 2021 Snake Eyes spin-off, where we saw her play Scarlett, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Scream VI. However, she has recently seen more success in the Ready or Not movies, with the sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which released earlier this year, earning over $40 million at the box office on a $14 million budget.
The X-Men movie has been in development for a while, but the project really took off after the Thunderbolts* director came on board. Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo were hired to pen the script.
Reputable leaker Daniel Richtman previously said to expect X-Men news at D23, the Disney fan event, after we didn't get any at Marvel Studios' Hall H panel in San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
