As Outlander approaches its highly anticipated conclusion, lead star Sam Heughan teases an emotional Season 8 finale that fans are sure to love.

In a video message to fans after he completes Outlander Season 8 ADR (the re-recording of dialogue), the Scottish actor—who has played Jamie Fraser since the show premiered in 2014—shares an emotional update on the final season, promising a satisfying yet heart-wrenching conclusion.

With filming wrapped and storylines set to deliver dramatic revelations, here’s what Heughan has to say about Outlander Season 8.

Outlander Season 8 Will be an Emotional Rollercoaster

In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, March 4, the 44-year-old star revealed that the last ADR for Outlander Season 8 was already completed on the Universal lot.

Though the last and final season’s production already wrapped up in September last year, some of the cast returned for reshoots and dialogue recording, including Heughan.

As he admitted that leaving the studio behind him was very emotional, he then revealed he was "excited for the fans to see the final episode."

"It’s gonna be quite an emotional one," he said. "But I know you’re gonna love it."

He then honored his character, the 18th-century Scottish Highlander, whom he played for over a decade.

"Thank you, Jamie," he concluded the video.

What to Expect from Outlander Season 8?

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s eighth and ninth books, Written in My Own Heart's Blood and Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, Outlander Season 8 will focus on the continuous struggles of Jamie and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) as they navigate life during the American Revolutionary War.

As always, their love story will face new challenges as political turmoil threatens their family and their future.

One of the most intriguing plotlines that may be explored in the eighth season is the shocking twist from the Season 7 finale, which hints that Jamie and Claire’s long-believed stillborn daughter, Faith, may have survived after their time in France decades earlier.

This leaves fans with questions: Could Faith truly be alive? If so, how did she survive and why was she kept away from her parents?

As showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told Entertainment Weekly, "You'll have to watch Season 8 to see what happens."

However, he also assured TV Insider that the final season would bring all the "feels to the surface."

"We wanted to make sure that that ride that you take in Season 8 gives you all the traditional feels of Outlander," he said.

As fans prepare to say goodbye to Jamie and Claire after more than a decade of watching their epic love story on the small screen, the show will surely leave an indelible mark in the minds of many and on television history.

The final chapter of Outlander promises not only closure but also an enduring celebration of love that spans centuries—a fitting tribute to one of TV’s most epic romances.

So far, there is no word on when Outlander Season 8 will be released.
