Ryan Reynolds recently praised his Deadpool and Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman and called him the "only" actor who can play Wolverine.
For the past few years, fans have been excited about the upcoming MCU film since it will bring back Jackman as the iconic mutant and team up with Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth in a multiversal adventure.
While it remains to be seen whether he will be playing the same variant as the Fox movies or his appearance will affect his fate in Logan, Jackman's return as Wolverine is being celebrated and there are speculations that he might stick in the role for a few more MCU appearances.
Ryan Reynolds Praises Hugh Jackman as the 'Only' Wolverine
During the Deadpool and Wolverine fan event in Berlin, Reynolds gave special praise to Jackman as he called him the only actor who could play Wolverine.
"There’s only been one Wolverine, the reason is no one can do it except him," he told the crowd.
It was followed by a rapturous response from the audience, who chanted "Wolverine" in repeat to Jackman's delight.
Jackman also praised Reynolds during the fan event held in Shanghai and thanked him for letting him reprise the role again after seven years.
"I thought I was finished with it seven years ago. But as soon as we came up with this idea, I knew that this was the matchup that people wanted, that I wanted, that Ryan wanted, that fans wanted," he told the fans.
"I feel in many ways fans of Wolverine — because of Deadpool, because of [Reynolds and Levy], are going to see a fuller, more different side to him than you've seen before. And that was thrilling for me, and I hope it is for you."
While most fans may agree that it's hard to see any other actor than Jackman play Wolverine in live-action, it also puts a lot of pressure on the future actor who will play the character's MCU version as the standard has been set to the highest level possible.
In the end, Jackman's performance as Wolverine will always be iconic to many fans thanks to this 24-year tenure in the role. Even if he doesn't accurately look like the comic version, he still embodied the character successfully in all his appearances on the big screen.
Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters this July 26.
