The fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are certainly imaginative. There is no shortage of theories on how the heroes will defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Although some are rather plausible, others are utterly absurd. Not surprisingly, the Russo brothers have heard it all and they have revealed which one is the most ridiculous theory so far.
Joe and Anthony Russo recently spoke to The Los Angeles Times to promote Endgame. Not surprisingly, the directors were asked if it was possible that Ant-Man will save the universe by taking one for the team and shooting himself up to where the sun doesn't shine. Their response is certainly hilarious.
"Thanus is truly the most ridiculous fan theory we've ever heard," said Anthony but his brother commended the theory for its creativity.
"But it's a highly inventive one," Joe said. "I want to know who came up with it."
The origins of the Thanus fan theory are pretty murky but it can be traced back to a tweet by a fan who claimed that Ant-Man wasn't in Avengers: Infinity War because he could simply crawl up Thanos' butt, turn into Giant-Man, then call it a day. The tweet was posted last year and Paul Rudd was told about the theory while promoting Ant-Man and The Wasp.
So sorry, people, Ant-Man is not going up Thanos' butt next week. Perhaps there is a more pleasant way to defeat the Mad Titan.
The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:
"The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame."
Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters on April 26.
