Despite the assurance, fans were reminded of the current schedule of the girl group. Its last official activity with YG Entertainment has been scheduled before the members' contracts expire, per the reports.
Previously, experts commented on the possibility of BLACKPINK's disbandment as they predicted the girl group would go through the same path 2NE1 did, especially with the upcoming arrival of YG Entertainment's new girl group.
For now, fans feel somewhat relieved knowing BLACKPINK will not disband as the reports have been suggesting.
Why BLACKPINK's Disbandment Became Talk of the Town
In the past months, there have been suggestions revealing the potential reasons that could support the girl group's breakup.
One source said YG Entertainment has a notorious pattern of disbanding groups after a new group is created.
"If you look at YG's past renewal year, there is a hint. BLACKPINK's debut dates back to 2016. That year is also the time to renew the contract of YG senior girl group 2NE1. BLACKPINK was deployed on August 8 of that year, and 2NE1's team activities ended on November 25 of the same year. As a result, YG did not hold hands with 2NE1 and went all-in to the new girl group BLACKPINK," the source said.
BLACKPINK members Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo have yet to comment on the claims, though, so fans should take these with a grain of salt.
