What makes any on-screen relationships work between actors is far beyond chemistry — history goes a long way as well. Rosario Dawson recently shared how her history with Hayden Christensen prior to joining Star Wars took her on the long-running mile in the acclaimed franchise.
Rosario Dawson Was Ahsoka Tano At First Glance
The Ahsoka Tano star and the Anakin Skywalker actor have met long before the day they became part of the Lucasfilm franchise.
Not only have Dawson and Christensen gone to the same drama school, New York City's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, together, but they have also known each other since they starred in the same Billy Ray production, Shattered Glass, as Andy Fox and Stephen Glass.
Little did they know that the picture they took for presenting an award at the 19th Independent Spirit Awards would eventually strengthen their encounter.
The photo happened to be of Christensen and the would-be Ahsoka Tano actress happily embracing at the Awards ceremony that led to Lucasfilm's Dave Filoni casting Rosario Dawson for the titular role.
Dawson explained how the Lucasfilm executive vice president took one look at her and imagined casting the actor as Ahsoka, "[Filoni] was like, 'How is that even possible?'"

Apart from the potential behind Dawson's appearance, the history she shares with Hayden Christensen was more than enough to seal the deal for her spot in Star Wars.
"So to see us young together and really have this strange, weird, magical, connective, fortuitous history and connection to all of it, it's definitely something that the fans have been very excited about," Dawson added.
Considering that Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice in The Clone Wars and leaving her former Jedi master allegedly rippled the effects of Anakin eventually turning to the Dark Side, a historical relationship with Anakin mattered.
This certainly goes the same way Filoni envisioned casting her for Ahsoka. As he previously quoted Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy when he asked her how they would know 'when it's the right person', Kennedy replied, "Dave, you just know."
"Who could have ever imagined this? You can't make this stuff up. You can't write it." Dawson said.
