In a recent interview with LADbible promoting his new film Primetime, Robert Pattinson was asked about how his Batman would fare with characters like Jimmy Olsen (played by Skyler Gisondo, his co-star).
He joked that he would "make the other characters more serious" and added, "It’s so funny, because Gotham is Watford. It’s a shed in Watford. There’s something so destabilising about when you're just, you're in the dark the whole time. I mean, just for eight months in the dark, and you literally have no conception of being connected to anything in the world."
However, Pattinson shot down the idea of his Batman being part of the DCU, as he cannot see his version fitting into the franchise's lighter tone.
"I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world. It's one of the only characters, I guess, because of the length of the shoots, but also it's such a specific kind of [style]; the tone of it gets inside you," he said.
"I remember that happened to me the last time I did it; it took a while. You’re just in the dark the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can't see anything for like months."
Pattinson joked that if his Batman were brought into another DC movie, he would be hiding behind his hands and say, "I can’t see."
What to Expect in The Batman Part II
So far, the plot details regarding The Batman Part II are still under wraps. Matt Reeves is back to direct, and he co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin. Production is currently ongoing in England, the same filming location as the first movie.
