Rey and Kylo Ren Are So Powerful in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker They 'Force Flash Fight'

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will take the Force connection between Rey and Kylo Ren to the next level.

With a five-year time jump from The Last Jedi, the two have become more powerful. They have a better handle of their Force abilities, which means they won't need Snoke to bridge the gap between them through space with the Force. However, the effect will be very different.

According to Making Star Wars, a reliable source for all things Star Wars, the two are going to have "Force Flash Fights." Part of the effect apparently sees the environment around them change during their lightsaber duels.

A source of the website says that things get "trippy" after their "Wild West standoff" as we see in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer. During this clash, Rey apparently damages Kylo Ren's TIE fighter and he ends up walking away from it.

As they battle it out, the backgrounds behind them will change. They will essentially be transported to different locations, which will be very familiar to fans. Making Star Wars didn't provide information on which planets are these though. However, after all of it, Rey and Kylo Ren will end up "where they first started." The latter will apparently do something after the encounter that the website didn't go into detail about.

It is unclear how the switch from one place to another will be triggered or if they will be in each other's presence when they do. Making Star Wars speculates that feelings of intense anger or determination could play a role.

The places they will end up in are those already featured in the entire Star Wars saga, so in order to even find their way there at some point, a connection to the certain planet might have a hand in it too.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits the theaters on December 20.
