Princess Diaries 3 is reportedly in the works! While plot details are being kept under wraps, the threequel will supposedly continue the first two films, seeing as this was adapted from Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries book series, this has been long overdue. It is difficult to imagine how the Princess Diaries franchise could ever succeed without the original cast, which is why fans took to Twitter to demand the original cast return for the 3rd movie.

There are no official announcements of Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews confirming to join the third film yet, however, Hathaway had previously expressed her interest on Entertainment Tonight:
“I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it. If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work.”
And she’s not wrong about that. In fact, check out the fan tweets below, as fans demand not only Hathaway and Andrews, but even Chris Pine as Mia’s love interest, and Sandra Oh as their fan-favorite side character in the franchise!
With Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis Renaldi hailing Queen of Genovia, we can expect more than just a glimpse of what Genovia is like under the hands of the clumsy yet charming granddaughter of Julie Andrews’ Queen Clarisse Renaldi. Given that we were left with a bit of a cliffhanger between Mia and Nicholas as the almost king made his exit, there is hope for the two to rekindle this romance, similar to how Queen Clarisse and Joe eventually got together in the second film.
Although there are no updates yet on who will be directing Princess Diaries 3, Aadrita Mukerji will be writing for the film. Mukerji is known for her work on shows like Reacher and Supergirl. Meanwhile, Debra Martin Chase will continue to produce the third installment, along with Melissa Stack as executive producer.
