Prince Harry claimed that his stepmother, Queen Camilla, sacrificed him and his brother, Prince William, for PR in his book Spare. However, a former royal butler said he just did the same toward his family.
Prince Harry Just Like Queen Camilla?
Meghan Markle's husband alleged that King Charles' second wife used him and his big brother for her publicity. However, Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, felt that he was doing the same and he needed to take accountability for his actions.
Burrell spoke on behalf of Slingo (via Showbiz CheatSheet):
"On many levels, Harry seems to be mixed up because at one moment he’s saying that Camilla sacrificed him on her PR altar. Well, Harry, what have you done to the people whom you’ve talked about in your book? You’ve sacrificed them on your PR altar, used them to generate stories for your book."
Burrell added.
"It’s all she did this, he did that. [Harry] needs to take accountability for the part he has played and the stress he has caused his family."
What Did Prince Harry Say About Queen Camilla?
Prince Harry called Queen Camilla a "villain" for being the third party in his parents King Charles and Princess Diana's marriage. He also alleged in his book that she was "dangerous."
When asked during his interview on 60 Minutes why he referred to his stepmother as such, he accused her of having connections with the press and sacrificing him for her publicity.
Prince Harry said about his stepmother.
"There was open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen Consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street."
He added:
"I had complex feelings about gaining a step-parent who, I believed, had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar. In a funny way I even wanted Camilla to be happy. Maybe she’d be less dangerous if she was happy?"
What can you say about Prince Harry's statement about Queen Camilla? Do you agree with Burrell that Prince Harry did what he accused his stepmother of doing?
