Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle couldn't be more different from one another. In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand previously said that the in-laws weren't necessarily feuding with each other. They just didn't have the chance to become best friends because they did not have enough similarities.
Prince Harry Noticed Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle's Marked Difference During Their First Meeting?
In Prince Harry's bombshell book Spare, he detailed Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's first dinner. At the time, the Duke of Sussex did not think much of the situation and thought that the sisters-in-law's marked difference wasn't a big deal.
The dad of two said that Middleton and Markle dressed very differently.
"It's so funny if I look back at it now, because now I know so much, and I'm so glad I didn't then. Because I could just authentically be myself without so much preparedness. The only possibly discordant note I could think of was the marked difference in how the two women dressed, which both of them seemed to notice," Prince Harry further detailed in his tell-all book. Meg: ripped jeans, barefoot. Kate: done up to the nines. No big deal, I thought," he wrote (via Mirror UK).

Meghan Markle Didn't Understand Prince William And Kate Middleton's Formality During Their First Meeting?
Throughout the years, Middleton and Markle's differences proved to be more than just the way they dressed. The in-laws reportedly got into an argument over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress before Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding.
In the documentary Harry & Meghan, Markle also revealed that she had no idea that her first meeting with Prince William and Middleton would be so formal. After all, their dinner happened at Prince Harry and Markle's place, so she greeted the Prince and Princess of Wales while she was barefoot.
"When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot. I was a hugger. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits. I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go 'You can relax now', but that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me," Markle said.
Meghan Markle Reportedly Distanced Herself From Prince Harry's Memoir Spare
But despite all the stories written about Markle and Middleton in Prince Harry's memoir, the in-laws have not publicly addressed their former issues. According to royal author Christopher Andersen, Markle even tried to distance herself from her husband's book.
"Meghan clearly doesn't want to make it look as if she's somehow manipulating Harry, or that she's had a hand in shaping his memoirs. The Sussexes are very sensitive to the fact that their critics believe she has some mesmeric sway over him. The fact is, this is Harry's story, and for better or worse he has to own it," he told Fox News.
