Pokemon Sword and Shield are coming to the Nintendo Switch in a couple of weeks, introducing hundreds of fans to the world of Pokemon. We've only seen a small number of new Pokemon and the evolutions for these game's starters haven't even been introduced yet, which is an interesting marketing tactic, to say the least. Amidst other concerns, like bringing back the National Pokedex, some hardcore fans are probably wondering when in the Pokemon timeline these games take place in.
You see, all of the Pokemon games are technically in the same continuity, with references often being made in the various titles. There are only a couple of obvious sequels out there, like how Gold and Silver are directly set after Red and Blue, while Black 2 and White 2 are sequels to, well, Black and White.
Speaking with Game Informer, producer Junichi Masuda basically told fans not to think about it. If you pay too much attention, there are some obvious plot holes and continuity nerds might get a field day out of pointing them out.
