Pokemon: Detective Pikachu has been a nice surprise to fans of the popular franchise, thanks to some killer CGI and Ryan Reynolds being a delight as the title character. While the story could have used some work, it was still a fun romp that most families can enjoy, with some creepy imagery that should give kids some nightmares. One character fans were surprised to see spoiled was Mewtwo, who ended up being one of the best Pokemon in the film.
Though many figured that we would see Mewtwo in a future film, the fact that it was in the very first live-action Pokemon movie was a great surprise for many. When asked why they decided to bring the 150th Pokemon in the movie, co-writer Benji Samit felt that the Psychic-type Pokemon was needed in this story, which was true in some regard.
Here is what Samit told ComicBook.com:
Now that a sequel is probably going to happen, it would be nice to see Mewtwo again. Whether it's at a Detective Pikachu follow up or a new movie with an entirely different concept, we all want more Mewtwo.
Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is now showing in theaters.
