The new Apple TV science-fiction series Pluribus is already taking the world by storm, as it has been hailed by critics and audiences as one of the best TV shows of the year. Since its premiere last November 7, it has also taken the spot in the chart as the number one show on the streamer.
Here's everything you need to know about TV's new sci-fi sensation.
What is Pluribus About?
In the promotional materials for the series, Pluribus is described as a genre-bending series that follows the most miserable person on Earth, who must save the world from happiness. The title is a reference to the Latin phrase "e pluribus unum," which means "out of many, one."
However, there is more to the story of the series than what the logline has been suggesting, and it's better if you avoid any spoilers about what it is really all about until you watch the pilot episode. You can watch the trailer above for a glimpse into what to expect from the series.
The project is helmed by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, who serves as the showrunner of the new series. Just like the aforementioned shows, Pluribus was also filmed primarily in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Apple TV has already given the series a two-season order, so a second season is already in the works.
Who is Starring in Pluribus?
The cast of Pluribus is led by the Emmy-nominated Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, who plays the role of Carol Sturka, a fantasy romance author who finds herself in a strange situation that forces her to save the world.
The other main cast members include Polish-American actress Karolina Wydra, who plays Zosia, and Colombian actor Carlos Manuel Vesga, who plays Manousos.
The guest cast includes Miriam Shor (who plays the role of Helen, Carol's manager and romantic partner), Samba Schutte, Peter Bergman, Karan Soni, and Jeff Hiller.
What is Pluribus's Release Schedule?
New episodes of Pluribus will be released every Friday on Apple TV until December 26, where the first season finale is scheduled to air. There are nine episodes in total.
There is no release window yet for the second season, which is currently in development and is expected to begin production next year.
