Comedian Adam Carolla recently claimed that the staff of The Ellen DeGeneres Show was scared of the talk show host when he made a guest appearance back in 2012.
DeGeneres is currently on hiatus from show business as she is enjoying her new life in the English countryside with wife Portia de Rossi. This comes as she released her last stand-up comedy special on Netflix last year, and the end of her daytime talk show in 2022, which had controversies due to allegations of a toxic workplace.
What Does Adam Carolla Think of His Experience on The Ellen DeGeneres Show?

In a recent interview on the After Party with Emily Jashinsky podcast (via EW), Carolla recalled his experience appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2012 and claimed that the staff was terrified of her.
"When you do [Jay] Leno, Leno was fun and breezy and easy and people were nice, and they were kind of laid back, and they weren't looking over their shoulder at all," he explained.
However, that wasn't the case for DeGeneres' talk show as Carolla alleged that she has "always been a mean person."
"People were scared, real scared. And I knew they were scared, because I was just sitting in my dressing room and their segment producer came in and he went, 'All right, so we went over all the stuff we're going to talk about' — Christmas vacation or whatever it was," he continued.
"And he goes, 'You're not going to talk about meat or beef or anything like that, right?' And I go, 'No, I'm not. I'm just going to talk about the stuff we talked about.'"
The conversation didn't end right there, as the staff asked him again some time later, which gave the comedian the idea that the staff is scared of the host.
Carolla added, "He came back like 20 minutes later, right before I went out, and he's like, 'OK, but don't talk about beef or meat.' And I was like, 'Oh, this guy's scared to death. This guy's scared.'"
In addition, Carolla also claimed that an employee of the series, whom he didn't identify, told him that DeGeneres was the "worst person I've ever met."
So far, DeGeneres has not responded to Carolla's claims about her in the interview.
Is Ellen DeGeneres Planning for a Talk Show Comeback?
During a conversation with English TV and radio presenter Richard Bacon last month, DeGeneres admitted that she misses her talk show "a lot" and is considering the idea of revisiting it in the UK.
"I want to have fun, I want to do something. I do like my chickens, but I'm a little bit bored," she said.
However, what's holding back DeGeneres is the changing TV landscape, as media consumption has evolved, and most people now watch shows or clips on their devices.
She explained, "I just feel like people are watching on their phones, or people aren't really paying attention as much to televisions, because we're so inundated with information and entertainment."
Despite the potential hurdles, DeGeneres said that she "would love to do that again" and "would [still] do the same thing [in the UK]" if she ever revisits the idea of her talk show.
She also added that she is currently planning her next step "very carefully."
