- Quick Answer: The series has evolved into a feature film where Din Djarin officially hunts Imperial remnants for the New Republic, marking a major franchise turning point.
The story of The Mandalorian continues in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu, and lead star Pedro Pascal has confirmed it marks a big turning point for the franchise.
The Mandalorian premiered as a live-action series on Disney+ in 2019, quickly becoming the streamer’s flagship show and running for three seasons until 2023.
Season 3 served as a definitive ending for the series, with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) being defeated, Grogu returning to Din Djarin, and the Mandalorians reclaiming Mandalore. So, is The Mandalorian & Grogu the end of The Mandalorian?
Has The Mandalorian Already Ended?

As Season 3 wrapped up the series’ loose ends, it seems The Mandalorian has run its course.
However, for Pascal, this isn’t the official end, just “the ending of a particular chapter,” and the next chapter begins in The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Here, instead of being a bounty hunter for anyone and everyone, whether good or bad, as in the Disney+ series, Din now chooses to work for the good guys only.
“They open up the opportunity for him to continue his best work as a bounty hunter, but just working for the good guys,” Pascal told Empire magazine. “Combining skill and morality. Whereas when we meet him first, it’s simply skill, and Beskar, and [the Mandalorian] Creed.”
Thanks to Grogu, everything has changed for Din, helping him renew his heart and leave his armor behind to fight for what is right.
“Through his relationship with Grogu, there is an expansion of his heart and a disarming of his armor, so to speak, that leads him to fight for what he knows is right,” he continued.
Indeed, The Mandalorian is entering a new era. Din now has a fresh perspective on life, and a new cast joins him, including Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt.
What to Expect from The Mandalorian & Grogu?

Fans are about to see the hero Din become in The Mandalorian & Grogu. In Season 1 of The Mandalorian, he focused mainly on earning his keep, but by Season 3, Din had grown more caring, preparing Grogu for a bigger world and helping his fellow Mandalorians reclaim their home.
The movie will show how Din and Grogu’s partnership impacts the New Republic and could potentially bring them into the wider Star Wars universe.
If the film succeeds, it could mark the beginning of a larger era for the duo, especially with rumors of a trilogy centered on Din and Grogu.
So with these assumptions, fans will have to wait and see how Din and Grogu’s new adventure unfolds when The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22.
