Pedro Pascal has signed a petition to boycott Harry Potter after J.K. Rowling posted tweets celebrating the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that trans women are not legally recognized as women.
The Last of Us star, like many celebrities who oppose the Wizarding World creator’s “anti-trans” views, took to social media to speak openly about his thoughts on the matter.
Pedro Pascal Slams JK Rowling’s Stance Against Trans Individuals and Supports Harry Potter Boycott
Pedro Pascal once again stood up for the trans community after J.K. Rowling’s celebratory posts on X following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that transgender women, even those with Gender Recognition Certificates, are not legally considered women.
Rowling wrote in her tweet, where she’s seen smoking a cigar and holding a cocktail on a yacht, “I love it when a plan comes together.” It was met with disapproval from many, including social media activist Ra’ouf Tariq.
Pascal didn’t hold back, commenting under Ra’ouf’s video: “Awful disgusting SH*T is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.” His remark caught the attention of many Instagram users, gaining 5,591 likes.
In his post, Ra’ouf criticized the children’s book author for being “cocky” and “revelling in the fact” that the Supreme Court sided with her preferred feminist group’s push to redefine the country’s legal definition of “woman.”
Now, for equality purposes, the country’s terms for “woman” and “sex” have been changed to “biological woman” and “biological sex.”
“She’s just so proud of the work that she’s been doing over the last couple of years to stoke hatred and fear in the general public about a very small minority population—one that’s already among the most misunderstood on Earth.”
Ra’ouf then urged his followers to boycott all projects related to Harry Potter, encouraging them to flood franchise-related posts with comments about “Trans Rights” and to avoid purchasing tickets to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
“Trans rights are human rights. Trans women are women,” he said, calling Rowling’s actions “awful, disgusting sh*t” and even comparing her to a “villain.”
Pedro Pascal Consistently Shows His Unwavering “Ally” Stance
Like Ra’ouf, Pascal often voices his support for the LGBTQIA+ community, especially trans individuals.
Pascal became more involved in the advocacy after his sister, Lux, came out as a trans woman in 2021.
To show his sincere dissent against the recent UK ruling, he wore a “Protect the Dolls” T-shirt to the Thunderbolts London premiere. The term “dolls” is an endearing way to refer to a trans woman within the community.
This wasn’t the first time Pascal used fashion to raise awareness about the discrimination faced by trans individuals around the world. In March, The Mandalorian actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live wearing a shirt designed by the late Pippa Garner.
Garner, a trans woman artist who passed away in December, had her shirts donated by loved ones to a fundraiser supporting trans people in the U.S.
The shirt was black with bold white text that read: “Adult Content.”
