We're now very close to the official start of the summer season of movies this year. It is expected to be another big draw for moviegoers with new superhero movies, sequels, reboots, spinoffs, and original material that are releasing in theaters.

Here is our list of the 10 most anticipated summer movies of 2025.

The new MCU film Thunderbolts* will open the summer season when it arrives in theaters this week. Fortunately, the early reactions so far have been mostly positive.

There's a lot of reason to be excited for the film since it is being hailed as a return to form for the MCU, and it seemingly delivers everything that audiences might be looking for in this type of tentpole movie while also making us care about this band of antiheroes.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning will likely be Tom Cruise's final movie as Ethan Hunt. As the trailers show, it looks like it will feature more death-defying stunts and high-stakes action.

Fans of the franchise already know at this point that every Mission: Impossible is always worth watching on the big screen. With the possibility that this could be the final installment, this should be a bigger event for moviegoers worldwide.

While audiences may already have Disney live-action remake fatigue, there is still a lot of excitement for Lilo & Stitch, and it could bring a lot of nostalgia to millennial and Gen Z audiences.

Based on the trailers, it looks like the remake might be able to capture the magic and charm of the original film, and Stitch will once again become the center of attention.

28 Years Later marks the return of the 28 Days Later franchise, almost 20 years after the second film was released. Most of the key creatives from the previous films are involved again in the new installment.

The trailers that they released so far have made a lot of fans excited and immediately put this on their list of most anticipated films this year. This could be the major horror event of the summer.

F1 is one of the very few original tentpole films that are releasing this summer. Starring Brad Pitt, it is a sports drama that tackles a retired F1 racer's mentorship relationship with a rookie prodigy.

What makes this exciting is that the racing scenes were shot practically and give audiences a high-octane closer look at one of the most popular sports worldwide.

Jurassic World Rebirth (July 2)

Jurassic World Rebirth is another attempt at revitalizing the franchise with a new cast, characters, and setting. Of course, there will be a lot of dinosaurs once again.

While it remains to be seen whether this will indeed be a fresh take on the franchise, it is still anticipated by audiences as the trailers suggest that it will deliver more thrilling dinosaur action set pieces.

Superman will mark the official beginning of the new DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran. It is also expected to have a more sci-fi take on the Man of Steel that we've never seen before in past Superman movies.

There is a lot of excitement for the film because of the promise of a bright new start for the DCU and a version of Superman that will be portrayed as optimistic again.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is another MCU film that is highly anticipated by many fans as it will finally introduce the First Family in the franchise.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the film's retro-futuristic style and unique visual flourishes that we don't usually see in an MCU film. It also helps that it is being led by a talented quartet who are likely going to be the next faces of the franchise.

Zach Cregger's Weapons is another film that is also being set up as the horror event of the summer, and, based on the glimpses that we've seen, it also seems like it will be the most terrifying movie of the season.

The film is described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic about the disappearance of students in a small town without a trace. The mystery surrounding the plot may entice a lot of audiences to check it out.
