After giving fans a peek at the pre-production and production process, Oshi no Ko showed what the recording process is like in the latest behind-the-scenes documentary episode.
As with the previous two episodes, this latest one features English subtitles, giving fans outside Japan a look at how one of this season’s biggest anime hits was brought to life.
In this episode, fans are given a BTS look at how the voice actors of Aqua, Ruby, and Kana approached their characters.
Oshi no Ko Goes Behind-the-Scenes of Anime’s Recording
While there’s no new Oshi no Ko episode this week, this next episode of the documentary series is a nice consolation for fans, especially as it features an interesting look at how the show’s voice recording process happened.
From the looks of it, this part of the Oshi no Ko documentary series was filmed when the cast was recording their voice lines for Episode 3.
After all, it features several moments from the anime that fans are sure to remember, including Kana finally meeting Aqua after several years.

Specifically, the episode features Takeo Otsuka (Aqua), Yurie Igoma (Ruby), and Megumi Han (Kana). Some members of the staff were also present to explain the process.
Aside from the behind-the-scenes look at recording sessions, the documentary also dived into how the VAs voiced their characters.
For instance, Megumi Han explained the depth and complexity of voicing Kana given how she has to convey multiple feelings even in just one line.

Ruby Hoshino’s Rookie Voice Actor Is Basically Playing Herself in the Anime
Han is a veteran voice actress who is best known for voicing Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter (2011), but Yurie Igoma, who voices Ruby, is a rookie. In fact, this is Igoma’s first-ever anime role.
What’s interesting about this decision is that Ruby is one of the series’ main characters; typically, the main characters are voiced by more experienced VAs.
Though it was revealed that the sound director told Igoma to act like herself when voicing Ruby.
In a way, Igoma being a fresh face in the industry is similar to Ruby and how she wants to break into the idol industry.
Given this, it’s no surprise that Igoma is also the host of Oshi no Ko’s other behind-the-scenes videos where she does cast interviews and more.
Oshi no Ko will return with Episode 8 next week, and it will be streamed on HIDIVE in the US.
