It was announced that Larry David is working on a six-episode sketch comedy series for HBO. It will mark his reunion with the network following the end of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

He will serve as the star and executive producer of the series. He also co-created the project with Curb Your Enthusiasm collaborator Jeff Schaffer.

Barack and Michelle Obama will also be involved as executive producers through their Higher Ground Productions banner. This will be their first involvement in a sketch comedy project.

The logline of the project states: "President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion… But then Larry David called."

Aside from David, the cast is expected to include some of the familiar names from Curb Your Enthusiasm and other guest stars. The other casting details will be announced at a later time.

What Do Larry David and Barack Obama Think of Their New Project?

David and Barack Obama gave hilarious statements in the announcement of the project, as they are aware that their collaboration is making some shockwaves.

Former President Obama said, "I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David."

"Once Curb ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the suds, I yearned to return to my simple life as a beekeeper, harvesting organic honey from the wildflowers in my meadow," David said.

"Alas, one day my bees mysteriously vanished. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I return to television, hoping to ease the loss of my beloved hive."

Jeff Schaffer also said in his statement, "The characters Larry is playing didn’t change history. In fact, they were largely ignored by history. And that’s a good thing."

No release window has been set yet for the untitled sketch comedy series, but it will likely air next year in conjunction with America's 250th Independence Day celebration.
