Fans were pretty excited when The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was seemingly teased for the Nintendo Switch. Many tend to view the game as an underrated installment of the long-running game series since many people had a hard time getting used to the motion controls on the Wii. The Switch offers motion and standard controls so players were hoping that the Switch port would have both options.
Sadly, Eurogamer was told by a Nintendo representative that there are no plans to bring this Zelda installment to the Switch. This could all change of course since publishers and developers like to keep fans surprised but we'll have to wait and see. As of this writing, the only way to play this game is to have a Wii or Wii U.
In the series chronology, Skyward Sword is technically the first story in the entire franchise, detailing why Link, Zelda, Ganon, and a number of other characters are always reincarnated. This is one of the most praised aspects of the game since it gives these characters some solid development. It's a shame that Switch owners won't be able to experience this anytime soon.
Nintendo Switch owners do have Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of the best open-world games ever released. It's also available on the Wii U but the title plays much better on the Switch.
