While it may have been rocked by delays, the Nier Automata anime is finally continuing its run with no issues. Now, the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a English dub is official, and its cast features the original voice actors from the game.
The anime’s English dub will premiere this weekend on Crunchyroll, with the dub’s first trailer being shared online via the anime’s official English Twitter account.
NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Japanese Cast and Delays
Released back in 2017, the Nier Automata game became a surprise hit. Despite being from a fairly niche series, Nier Automata became a success thanks to its memorable story and action-packed gameplay.
Although it had been years since the game was released, an anime adaptation was announced. And to the delight of fans, the original Japanese voice cast from the game was brought back.
These include Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa in Attack on Titan) as 2B and Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro in Demon Slayer) as 9S.
While it was one of the bigger shows of Winter 23, the hype for it was derailed back in January as Aniplex announced a delay for the series.
According to the official statement, this delay was due to the spread of COVID.
The anime finally resumed airing on February 19, and since then, new episodes have been released weekly.
This should mean the anime won’t get any more delays until its end.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a English Dub Cast, Release Date
Much like the Japanese language version, the Nier Automata anime’s English dub brings back the main cast from the game’s English version.
The voice actors in the English dub include:
- 2B - Kira Buckland (Reimi Sugimoto in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable)
- 9S - Kyle McCarley (Shinji Matou in Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works)
- A2 - Cherami Leigh (Asuna Yuuki in Sword Art Online)
- Commander - Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Ino Yamanaka in Naruto)
- Pascal - Alexis Tipton (Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War)
- Adam - Greg Chun (Garou in One-Punch Man)
- Eve - Ray Chase (Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer)
- Lily - Erica Mendez (Ryuko Matoi in Kill la Kill)
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the English cast was brought back for the anime.
After all, most video game voice actors have also worked extensively on anime projects.
The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a English dub will premiere on Crunchyroll on March 18, 2023. New episodes of the English dub will then be released weekly.
