Was it really Ryan Reynolds who danced to the opening scene of Deadpool and Wolverine? Despite the Merc's flexibility, the red-suited mutant who danced to *NSYNC's 'Bye Bye Bye' is actually none other than professional Nick Pauley's Dancepool.

The slow-mo sequences of each Deadpool flick in the franchise usually come with a theme song, and the threequel has *NSYNC to thank for their featured song on the big screens. Here's how Pauley did it.

The Man Behind 'Dancepool' is NOT Ryan Reynolds After All

As Deadpool assassinates the TVA agents using Earth-616 Logan's adamantium claws and bones, fans couldn't help but wonder whether the actor Ryan Reynolds committed to the opening dance sequence or not.

On the threequel's release, Nick Pauley took to his Instagram to officially announce that he is the "dance" double for Deadpool's opening scene.

The professional dancer, who has previously danced in Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Doja Cat's music videos, explained how it took him 30 minutes to nail down the Deadpool and Wolverine opening choreography.

He got a call from his agent saying that he had to learn the entire 'Bye Bye Bye' song for a 'huge' undisclosed opportunity. Dedicated to unexpectedly getting his big break, Pauley managed to submit his audition clip on time.

"I can tell by the way I'm dancing that I'm exhausted," he wrote on his Instagram story, sharing that the costume would "get really hot" and his "feet would start feeling like cement" at the amount of retaking the little stomps and head bops he had to commit to.

Ryan Reynolds fully owned up to the fact that he didn't dance to the opening sequence, and instead offered a hint of how MCU fans would know when it's the Canadian actor behind the mask or Nick Pauley's Dancepool.

"He's doing a lot of the moves that have been established previously by *NSYNC," the 47-year-old actor explained, jokingly adding, "If it looks like the person who's dancing doesn't have arthritis, that's him."
