Another Returning Character Will Be Joining Superman and Supergirl in the Sequel

While David Corenswet's Clark Kent and Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) were already established as the main Kryptonian leads, exciting details were revealed by Superman actor Alan Tudyk on a recent episode of the Once We Were Spacemen podcast, one of which is the confirmation of his participation.
When asked by his co-host, Nathan Fillion, about what's keeping him in Atlanta, Tudyk revealed that his call sheets are for a project called "Superman 2: Super Duper", alluding to the Superman sequel.
"Well, it's a project called Superman 2: Super Duper, I think, is the name. I'm not supposed to give that out," Tudyk joked on the podcast. "That's what's on all of my call sheets. Superman 2: Super Duper: The Rise of Gary, which is my character, the robot named Gary at the end of the last movie, which was really great."
In the first movie, Tudyk played Gary, the service robot who lives in the Fortress of Solitude and helps Superman. While he was destroyed at one point by Ultraman, we saw him rebuilt at the end of the movie.
This is not the first time his participation is teased, as Milly Alcock previously mention the actor in an interview when talking about the new faces she's getting to work with in the project. Director James Gunn also teased his participation with a post of the actor's face on Threads.
It's unclear how significant his part will be in the sequel, so for now we'll have to wait for more information from the actor or until a first trailer is released after production is over.

Voiced by Alan Tudyk, the robot's deadpan insistence on being called "Gary" wasn't originally scripted to land the way it did. During filming, Tudyk ad-libbed the line with such dry comedic timing that it caused co-star David Corenswet and director James Gunn to break character on set.
Recognizing the charm of a deadpan, newly self-aware AI declaring its chosen human name, Gunn kept the unscripted moment in the final cut.
