2024 barely started and another one of our favorite YouTubers has bid the internet farewell. The Game Theorists creator MatPat has recently announced his retirement from the video-sharing platform. His departure means new faces will take over, so meet the new hosts on the Game, Film, Food, and Style Theory channels.

MatPat Announces YouTube Retirement

On Wednesday, January 10th, The Game Theorists creator MatPat, whose real name is Matthew Patrick, declared his retirement from hosting his YouTube franchise and will be "handing off the channels to someone else."

His YouTube channel was first created back in 2011 as a platform where he and his wife Stephanie could freely discuss their theories about the biggest video games they were playing.

Eventually, this sprung into creating more spinoff channels, which included Film Theorists, Food Theorists, and Style Theorists.

Despite having earned 18.5 million subscribers, the Game Theorists' former host explained in his farewell video that he knew "we didn't want to do this forever."

MatPat added, "I miss the days where I could just sit down on the couch with [Stephanie] and play video games, and it's not for content."

Long story short, it's sad to see MatPat go, but we're looking at a couple of new but familiar faces joining the game to take over his spot across Game Theorists and his spinoff channels. Meet the new Game Theory hosts!

While Game, Film, Food, and Style Theorists fans are still bummed out about MatPat's, don't fret. Meet the hosts taking over the platform: Lee Collins, Amy Roberts, Santiago Massa, and Tom Robinson.

It is also worth mentioning that all four hosts have been working alongside the Theorist channels for years before they were handed the job.

Lee Collins has been the video editor and creative director for Theorist but will be taking over Film Theory.

Amy Roberts, who has been the channel manager, brand manager, and creative director for six years, will be handling Style Theory.

Santiago Massa, who has been the creative director at Food Theory since 2023 will be taking over as the channel's host this year, while Tom Robinson, who worked with Disney and Fox before coming on board as a writer on Theorist in 2020 will be on Game Theory.

Even though MatPat has signed off YouTube, it is important to note that he mentioned he will still be hosting the fifth Theorist channel, GTLive "from now until the foreseeable future" at least through the end of summer 2024.

The former Theorist host had even commented that he would be there to help if the channel needed his presence once more.
