Netflix Reportedly Eyeing David Fincher To Direct Squid Game Remake

Netflix is set to bring back Squid Game with Season 2, after its cliffhanger from the first season. However, amid this production, a new report sheds light on how the streaming service is also booking plans to make a Squid Game remake.

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast, Netflix is eyeing Fight Club, Alien 3, and Panic Room director David Fincher to produce and helm an American version of Squid Game. Check out Sneider’s tweet below:

Although Sneider clearly stated he has no idea if Fincher is already in talks with the company, multiple sources have already claimed that Netflix is “badly” seeking Fincher to lead the project.

It is important to take this with a grain of salt, especially since Squid Game Season 2, which exudes more importance to fans than another remake, has yet to be released and finish its story.

It is no surprise that Netflix is looking forward to milking the series in any way they can, seeing as Squid Game is one of the most highly praised series on the service, and is expected to come back with even bigger surprises in store.

“As we all saw at the end of [Squid Game] Season 1, the main plot of Season 2 will be revenge, and the key figure who controlled the working of the games in Season 1, was Lee Byung Hun sunbae,” Lee Jung Jae said (via allkpop).

“So it seems that the two of us will be the central figures of this next story. This is the first time that I’ll be working with Lee Byung Hun sunbae, actually.”
