Netflix Announces Sweet Tooth Live-Action Adaptation With Robert Downey Jr. Producing

Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth is often cited as one of the best modern comic books from Vertigo and definitely felt like some of the other classics from the now-dead publishing line. It seems like the series is about to gain a number of new fans as Netflix has announced that they are going to make the comic into a live-action series that will be produced by Marvel legend Robert Downey Jr.

First announced by Downey Jr himself on Twitter and then reported by Deadline, fans went crazy over the announcement about this upcoming Netflix series. Comic book readers lost their minds since this is a truly beloved series and most of us expected it to stay in the realm of graphic novels. We are curious to see just how this series will be like under the Netflix umbrella since the streaming service is already home to a number of comic book adaptations.

Sweet Tooth follows the adventures of Gus - part deer, part boy - who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

No release date for Netflix's Sweet Tooth has been announced. If you're in any way curious about this new show, I highly implore you to check out the Vertigo graphic novels of the same name since they are just too good.
