Netflix looks set to acquire the entire Warner Bros. Discovery company, including HBO and HBO Max services.

It's going to make big changes in how both streaming services will be working together, with good news and bad news for consumers alike. Here's why.

Netflix Wins Warner Bros. After Weeks-Long Bidding War

After the weeks-long bidding war to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery's entertainment assets, Netflix has officially landed a goldmine by winning the race to reshape access to its content and the streaming platform's model for its million global viewers.

The acquisition was between Netflix and rivals, Paramount Skydance, and Comcast, and the former was the only one to rise above them all.

This came to be a shocking turnaround for Netflix, considering all the years they had resisted making big bets on the classic Hollywood assets.

Netflix co-CEOs, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, even asserted that their streaming platform can and will continue to grow even by the lack of deep content.

But it would seem that striking a deal with WB was too difficult to pass up, given the unpredictability of the Trump administration and the streaming industry.

The agreement was valued at around $28 per share, bringing iconic brands like HBO, Warner Bros., and DC Comics into the mix of what's under the Netflix umbrella.

What Does the Warner Bros. Discovery Acquisition Mean for Netflix?

For the next 12 to 18 months, Netflix and HBO Max will continue to operate as separate streaming platforms.

However, technical integration and licensing agreements will take place behind the scenes, allowing users to adjust accordingly to the combined service, as well as to adjust pricing, content availability, and future streaming strategies for each brand.

Netflix plans to bundle HBO Max's premium content, including House of the Dragon and the Harry Potter film franchise, within its platform, which means eliminating HBO Max from the common consumer's multiple monthly subscriptions.

Keep in mind that even if the combo would decrease your list of monthly subscriptions, the acquisition may most likely lead Netflix to raise its prices in the long term.

In short, Netflix subscribers would be enjoying a combined library of Netflix originals, HBO dramas, Warner Bros. theatrical releases, and DC superhero films, all for the price of a more expensive monthly subscription package.
