Natalie Portman made her debut in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as Padme Amidala, serving as Luke Skywalker’s mother. The actress went on to star in the rest of the prequel trilogy. However, what if she portrayed the role of Rey in the sequel trilogy instead?
Be it Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker hypothetically getting released years ago or Portman in the same age as Daisy Ridley now, the power of deepfake videos makes it possible for fans to reimagine Portman in the role of Rey. This is what the YouTube channel DeepFaker did, replacing Ridley’s face with Portman’s in the scene where Rey tries to reach out to the Jedi of the past. Check out the video below!
Ridley has somewhat similar features with Portman, making the deepfake video seamless and seemingly real. The actresses’ voices aren’t that far off from each other as well, making it all the more realistic. What’s interesting too is that this video is loaded with VFX, with the original movie using clips of Carrie Fisher from The Force Awakens, which was incorporated in The Rise of Skywalker for Rey’s scene with General Leia to be possible.
